Are You Ready to Pass the NCEES® Electrical Power CBT PE Exam?

As a 3 time test taker, I have taken a couple of the other Power PE review courses. I can honestly say that this is probably the best out there. I made the mistake of overlooking this review course the first couple of times I took the test, mainly because it's fairly new compared to some of the other review courses. However, believe me Zach has put a lot of time and effort in this course and based on the live classes and materials, you can really tell that this guy must eat, drink, sleep, and thinks nothing but Power PE all day long. He really takes time to focus on the fundamentals, unlike the other courses I have taken in the past that try to cram as much information in your head in the shortest amount of time. Fundamentals are KING! Class of October 2019

Zach was the perfect instructor for me since I had limited time and limited formal education on electrical power engineering. His lessons were clear, concise, and fine tailored towards the exam. I attribute about 80% of my passing success to this review course. The rest would be minor self-study and luck. After having passed the exam, I would highly recommend this for anyone interested in passing the exam. Great bang for your buck.

I took this course based on the recommendation of a coworker that had to take several different review courses before he finally passed the PE. I thought the premium class was quite good and pretty well organized. I do wish that the review material and the live classes were synced up a little better. Personally, I didn't have time to attend any of the live classes because of life and they way they were out of sync. I did find a few topics missing from Zach's course that were in School of PE notes I got from a coworker which were on the test. Finally, if you could make it easier to print the formulas at the end if each section that would be awesome. I spent a lot of time formatting and printing those out. Overall, I'm super glad I took the class because I'm sure I would not have passed without it!

Here is my feedback about my preparation and the exam. I am a repeat test taker this October after my first attempt in April. First attempt: My initial attempt included reading a lot of textbook concepts and review material passed on by a colleague who took the test a couple of years ago. I thought I had a grasp on all of the concepts to a satisfactory degree but was overwhelmed by some theoretical questions and problems related to Rotating Machines. The other section that spooked me was the Devices and Power Electronic Circuits. Protection, Analysis and NEC were my strong suites but I did rather below par contrary to my expectations. Taking a week off before did not help in plugging any gaps in my preparation activity as I re-read sections which I was strong in. I felt I did too few problems to generate the speed required to analyse and solve some convoluted questions for the main exam. I remember taking just two exams before my main exam in April. Result: Scored a 47/80 including a dismal 0/8 in Rotating Machine section. Definitely a blow to my pride of never failing an exam ever. Second attempt: For my second attempt, I started prep in July 2nd week and enrolled in your class in August which did a good job in drilling down some basic concepts and enhancing my grasp over the material. I attended all your classes, read through all the prerequisite material, reviewed the class notes and did all the homework problems which really helped. The full exam you wrote was definitely a challenge because the phrasing of some questions tripped me up and I scored a 54/80 with the majority questions I got wrong being in the NEC section. It gave me a panic but I backed myself with the experience in my April exam of having scored a 10/12 on the code questions. I felt we should have increased the focus on harmonics, lightning protection and other theory based concepts like Grounding because I remember quite a few questions in the exam pertaining to these areas. If you could, what would you have done differently? a) Start my prep early obviously. b) Take a subject and go to the good level of depth across multiple weeks. for eg. Engineering Economics, Lightning Protection, OCPD and Protection (Theoretical concepts). c) Increase my solved problem repository. Is there any way that we could improve our product and service to help future engineers pass the exam? Increase the number of review classes to 15 and review the theoretical concepts as well instead of glossing over and referring the prerequisite material. I leaned more on my text books and other material to effectively answer them. No gripes about problem solving concepts. I think you did a fab job on all of them except for Protection. Again, theoretical concepts pertaining to protective devices would be a good area to stress on.

After 2 attempts at self study. I finally decided to make the financial investment of this class. This class is what gave me the edge I needed to finally pass. I took the live webinar course and I found myself being corrected on small errors I did not realize were even errors. The explanations are incredibly detailed and clear and Zach is a great teacher. By far the best course out there for studying up on your Power PE Exam. I am very happy with this purchase and study up on your NEC!

I've just passed the PE Exam thanks to Zach. In January 2019, I registered in Zach program but failed big time. I was aware before the exam that my chance to pass were very slim. Simply because I did not really study. I was just tried. For my 2nd attempt in this past October, I started the program again FREE of charge and just followed Zach guidance. It's critical to do all the pre-requisites assignment before the Live Lectures. By doing so, you will be well prepared and the live lecture will appear like a review for you. I've recommended Zach's program to my friends and coworkers who are thinking of sitting for April 2020. Again, Thank you Zach and may God bless you so you can continue helping others.

I paid thousands of dollars for a different review course but I failed the first time. So for my second attempt, I decided not to spend that much of money on a review course. Then I discovered Zach's review course. I decided to take only one month. I used that one month to watch almost all the videos and printed the notes and formulas on his website. They are the only materials I used in my preparation. I only took his materials and codebooks to the exam and I passed. They are great materials! I will only recommend he put the materials in the form of a book or pdf file especially the formulas. It's difficult printing them from different places on the website and putting them together, if you don't take care, you will mess them up. Thank you once again!

If I were to do it all over again, I believe I would have signed up for access to Zachs' material for 6 months. I did a lot of hard/inefficient studying on my own from April through the last week of July. I then signed up for Zachs' course for the remaining 3 months leading up to the exam. In retrospect, I feel I would have studied more efficiently had I signed up for his course from the very beginning because his material is very concise which makes it very easy to follow. I had taken the exam once already (April 2019) and did not pass. I contemplated taking a class and ultimately signed up for Zach's Class. I kick myself for not doing it for the first one - it was a GREAT class. He is so thorough and will take the time to explain to you during live class (or via email) if you are not getting something. If you put in the work to understand, he will put in the work to drill it into your brain. On top of that, his notes and practice questions/exam is worth the class in itself. You cannot beat it. After going at it alone at least four or five times, and even trying a different sub-discipline, I finally found this course, and it was exactly what I needed to help me focus my study areas and ultimately pass the exam.

This course is the reason I passed. Except for practice exams, this was my only source of reference material. Zach's notes and lessons are extremely informative, easy to digest and cover every bit of the material on the exam. I would recommend this course to ANYONE taking the Power PE.

Zach helps you get in the right frame of mind for the exam. The course was very well organized, and that added great value to my preparation from the outset. Also, Zach truly has the heart of a teacher. For me, that made the difference between taking this course and just having access to materials. Zach also helps you stay focused on the objectives of the exam. All of this, in my opinion, makes this course the most efficient way to prepare for the exam. I know that because I had less time than I wanted to prepare for the April 2019 exam, and so I needed maximum efficiency. I had to put in the work of course, but the course was tremendously helpful. These chapters, with my notes added to them, ended up being my primary reference material during the test. I passed my PE on the first attempt and have since been recommending this course to colleagues.

The course is really great, I think you did a fantastic job with your videos explaining things in a very easy way for engineers who haven’t had any experience in the topic to understand.

After failing the October 2018 and April 2019 exams I decided to sign up for Zach’s class and attempt it one more time. I only self studied the first two attempts. My advice, especially if you have failed before, sign up for this course. My advice is go through the online part of the course and attend all the live classes. There’s so much good material on the online part of the course and the live classes can’t be beat. Zach’s new full length test is amazing by the way. The best on the market as far as I’m concerned. Make sure to take it under test like conditions. It’s tough but so is the real test. The difference in me passing and failing was Zach’s course.

Zach is the best instructor!

This was an awesome course! Zach has really put a lot of time and effort into making this course helpful and it shows! The course does an excellent job of guiding you through the topics you need to know, and then showing you how to work the problems. Zach does a great job explaining everything. But he does more than that - he also does a great job helping you stay motivated throughout the course, and helps you understand what to expect on exam day. Zach is very available should you need clarification on anything. Note: *You will still have to put forth effort* He does not tell you the answers to the exam (he doesn't have them) ... but he helps you understand the material and absolutely prepares you to take and pass this exam. I passed on my first attempt and credit this course for that achievement.

The online review course was an excellent way to refresh myself on many topics I learned in school, as well as other topics that I never really covered or fully understood. I am very happy with my experience overall. The end of section quizzes really helped to solidify my understanding of each topic, however, I don't feel like those questions were representative of what I saw on the P.E. exam. You still need to work practice problems outside of what's included in the course, and personally I wish I would have started doing so sooner! (Although Zach told me so, I should have listened) My biggest complaint is that when I was printing out the materials to put together my binder, there were a number of formulas and practice problems that didn't actually print out, it just left a big white space with a little "x" and the title of the picture's name... I printed directly from Chrome. I recommend you check the pages as you print them out so you can write in any missing information yourself. The videos were fantastic, they provided very thorough examples and were easy to follow. I will definitely be recommending this course to my peers who are preparing to take the exam next year!

Zach is a gifted & knowledgeable instructor, this is best PE Review Course on the market. I have been out of school for over 30 years and had never sat for the PE, this was on my bucket list and Zach whipped me into tip top fighting shape. During the test I knew exactly what to do on almost every problem. This is an awesome course ... look no further!

Some of the material on the exam I learned for the first time in Zach's course. Could not have passed without attending his live classes and using his notes during the exam.

The course contents and lectures are very useful, dont forget to make a cheat-sheet of the formulas in each section. Was sent a free copy of sample test, really appreaciate that. The only suggestion i have is to add more PE test style practice problems to the program

Electrical PE review does the best job of presenting the material that you need to know for the PE exam. Other courses simply read off powerpoint slides. Zach actually teaches on a whiteboard, focusing on material you would likely see on the exam. I highly recommend this course for any engineer preparing for the PE exam.

It does cover everything what you need for the exam

Zach is a great instructor, this course is structured perfectly, it pushes you to get through all the material that could be thrown at you. He explains things thoroughly and is always accessible for questions. Would recommend this to anyone, do what Zach says and you will get through it.

Overall a good course and steers you in a right direction. Need to be more thorough in Power Electronics section and also study machines outside of the course material.

I was skeptical signing up for a course without any knowledge of which one to choose, only knowing how much they cost, and I know I was/will not be the only one that felt that way. Trust me, this course will prepare you and give you the necessary information to give you the best chance of passing. I cant say enough good things about this course. he is always available for questions, the course material, quizzes, and practice exam is extremely useful! My favorite part of the course is the weekly webinars.

Zach does a great job of explaining Power concepts that come hard to teach in the industry for seasoned professionals. I really enjoyed the course, even if you don't have the energy some days after work I'd recommend always sitting in on the live courses and following through with the practice problems. Zach's layout is very easy to understand and intuitive. He introduces you to past concepts you may have not been familiar with or need to brush up on. His free articles and various tips throughout the course stuck with me and his resource recommendations is spot on. I stuck to the live class schedule for weekly studying + reviewed all his bootcamp & recommended materials and did practice exam problems on the weekend. My resources were the printed course lectures, Graffeo book, NEC, and Ugly's book and you'll be on your way to pass the exam.

Do everything Zach tells you to do in order to pass the exam. Is it overkill? Maybe. But the intent is to guarantee you pass. Compare it to a personal trainer versus training yourself at the gym. A personal trainer pushes you to your limit, and helps you achieve your goal. Definitely worth it. If you have doubts about this program, trust me its worth it and I would recommend this to anyone looking to prepare for the Electrical Power exam.

I passed on my first attempt thanks to Zach and his premium online review course. The course provides you with everything you need but it ultimately comes down to how much you want it.

It was good to have some time every week specifically set aside for studying. You did a good job of being encouraging and keeping me motivated. The depth and breadth of your course are sufficient to get someone from a pretty low level to passing the test. My only complaint would be the timeliness of email responses. The course greatly exceeded my expectations! In the grand scheme of things, it’s a small price to pay. It’s certainly possible to pass the exam without a review course, but the amount of time you spend away from your family/social life is correlated with how efficiently you study. This course does a great job of covering what you need to know, which should limit the time you spend away from the important things.

I would say this is the best class that I have taken in a while. Zach cares a lot about his students and goes to great lengths in clarifying all questions. I remember emailing him until the last day before the exam and he got back to me on time. The course is well structured and I just had to meticulously go through each material and attend all his live classes. His live classes are a MUST to iron out any concerns that you might have while studying the material. I am really thankful to Zach and am glad to have attended his classes.

I compared the major PE review courses and decided to go with Zach Stone's course. 100% that was the correct decision. The course was well paced, the material was thorough, Zach is exceptionally responsive and the best part, I passed the PE on the first attempt!

I loved the on-your-own modules, I legitimately thought that's all I was getting when I signed up so it was a happy surprise to also get the live class. I always watched the classes after the fact so I could turn up the speed on the videos. My only complaint about the courses is the speed at which Zach talks - I'm from New England and we talk fast but speeding up the videos worked well for me. And allowed me to pause when I needed to spend a little more time drawing a diagram. The transformer connection section and 3ph power sections were the best. I had that info on lock by the end.

After attempting to pass the PE through self study unsuccessfully, I elected to use Zach's program and with great pride I am happy to say I PASSED! Thank you Zach for an excellent class. You have helped me pass, something I thought would never have been possible!

I was struggling to stay on course when I was self-studying over the summer. I received a tip on Zach's review course from a client and decided to give it a shot. I am very pleased that I did. The course helped me stay on target and cover a lot of ground quickly. The structure of the live class (with assignments before and after class) was fantastic.

This was an excellent course from beginning to end. It was my second time taking the PE exam, and I believe Zach's instructions and course material gave me the extra push I needed to pass! I would definitely recommend this class to anyone on the fence. Zach is very thorough, the class was enjoyable, and I learned a lot!

Prior to taking this course, my study "method" was a haphazard approach of jumping around sections of study books and skipping problems that I didn't understand. This course provided an organized and well laid out approach to follow. It starts with some of the basic skills that may have been forgotten and builds up to the meat of Power engineering. I don't think any course can cover 100% of testable material but this course provides a good foundation. In addition to just explaining how to work quantitative problems, there is a lot of useful background information that is needed to solve qualitative problems. My one piece of advice would be; Practice, Practice, Practice. Use this course and any other practice tests you can find. Aside from just practicing solving problems, you will also be developing the skills to understand what the question is asking even if it's not worded how you're used to and aid in quickly locating information in the NEC code as well as any other Standard/Guide needed for the exam.
